Heavy Rain Disrupts Rail Services Across Western India; Mumbai-Jaipur Superfast Among Trains Cancelled

Heavy rainfall across Rajasthan and western India has disrupted railway operations after water levels at Bridge No. 203 between Gholvad and Umargam Road reached the danger mark. Mumbai-Jaipur Superfast and several other trains have been cancelled, partially cancelled, or diverted as railway authorities prioritize passenger safety amid severe waterlogging and adverse weather.

Heavy and continuous rainfall across Rajasthan and other parts of western India has begun severely affecting railway operations, forcing the cancellation, partial cancellation, and diversion of several long-distance trains. Rising water levels at a railway bridge on the Western Railway network prompted authorities to suspend train movement in the affected section as a precautionary measure.

According to Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the water level at Bridge No. 203 between Gholvad and Umargam Road stations on Western Railway reached the danger mark, leading to the temporary suspension of train operations in the section to ensure passenger safety.

The disruption has significantly impacted services operated by North Western Railway. Several trains have been cancelled entirely, multiple services have been partially cancelled, and one train has been diverted through an alternative route due to adverse weather conditions and waterlogging.

Train No. 12955 Mumbai Central–Jaipur Superfast Express, scheduled to depart from Mumbai Central on July 23, 2026, has been cancelled from its originating station. Similarly, Train No. 12956 Jaipur–Mumbai Central Superfast Express, scheduled to depart from Jaipur on July 24, 2026, has also been cancelled.

Several other trains will operate only on part of their scheduled routes. Train No. 22452 Chandigarh–Bandra Terminus Express, which departed on July 22, will now terminate at Ankleshwar, while its service between Ankleshwar and Bandra Terminus has been cancelled. Train No. 22451 Bandra Terminus–Chandigarh Express, scheduled for July 23, will originate from Ankleshwar instead of Bandra Terminus, with services between Bandra Terminus and Ankleshwar remaining cancelled.

Train No. 14707 Hanumangarh–Dadar Express, which departed on July 22, will now operate only up to Navsari. The section between Navsari and Dadar has been cancelled. In the reverse direction, Train No. 14708 Dadar–Hanumangarh Express, scheduled for July 23, will originate from Navsari instead of Dadar, while services between Dadar and Navsari will remain cancelled.

Train No. 12479 Jodhpur–Bandra Terminus Express, which departed on July 22, will terminate at Nadiad, and the remaining section between Nadiad and Bandra Terminus has been cancelled. Train No. 12480 Bandra Terminus–Jodhpur Express, scheduled for July 23, will originate from Nadiad instead of Bandra Terminus, with services between Bandra Terminus and Nadiad remaining suspended.

Railway authorities have also diverted Train No. 20693 Jodhpur–Bengaluru Express, departing on July 23. Instead of operating on its scheduled route, the train will run via Surat, Udhna, Paldhi, and Jalgaon.

Railway officials stated that the operational changes have been implemented due to waterlogging and persistent adverse weather conditions on the Western Railway network. Passengers have been advised to verify the latest status of their trains before leaving for railway stations to avoid inconvenience. The disruption underscores the widespread impact of relentless monsoon rainfall on rail connectivity across western India and highlights the priority being given to passenger safety during extreme weather conditions.
